Who we are
The Canton Library is a restaurant operated by Aqua Restaurant Group in Hong Kong, at 29/F, One Peking Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong.
This policy explains what personal data we collect through this website and through the bookings, enquiries and voucher purchases that start here, what we do with it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to meet our obligations under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) of Hong Kong.

Aqua Restaurant Group in Hong Kong consists of AQUA Restaurants LTD, Festival Thai LTD, Tivo LTD, Gain Gallant LTD, Speedway LTD, Star Crown LTD, Top Well LTD, Harbour Team LTD, PRO Silver LTD, Advance Fame LTD, Allied Kingdom LTD, Cornhill LTD, AQUA Restaurant Management LTD and Smarter Pacific LTD, all registered at 15/F Lee West Commercial Building, 375-379 Hennessy Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong.
What we collect, and when
When you book a table: Our reservations run on SevenRooms. To hold a booking we ask for your name, email address and telephone number, the date, time and party size, and any guest names you give us. You may also tell us about allergies, dietary requirements, accessibility needs or the occasion you are celebrating. Where a booking requires a card guarantee or a deposit, the card details are taken by our payment provider. We do not see or store your full card number. We keep a record of your bookings with us, including cancellations and no-shows, and any service notes our team adds so that we can look after you properly on your next visit.
When you enquire by email: The addresses on this site, [email protected] and [email protected], reach our events and marketing teams. We collect whatever you choose to put in your message, which is usually your name, contact details and the details of the event or request.
When you call or message us: If you telephone or contact us on WhatsApp we collect your number and the content of the conversation so that we can deal with your request.
When you buy a gift voucher: Gift vouchers are sold and fulfilled by One Tree Software Limited, trading as Giftpro. You provide your name and contact details, the recipient’s details where the voucher is a gift, and your payment details. Payment is taken by Giftpro’s payment provider and we do not see or hold your full card details.
When you use this website: Our cookie banner is provided by CookieYes and records your consent choices. If you consent to analytics or advertising cookies, we use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used. That involves your IP address, device and browser type, approximate location, the pages you view, how you arrived at the site and what you click. Strictly necessary cookies are set whether or not you consent, because the site cannot work without them. Our cookie policy sets out the individual cookies in use.
Providing your data is voluntary. If you do not give us the details we need to hold a booking, fulfil a voucher order or answer an enquiry, we will not be able to do those things.
What we use it for
We use your personal data to take and manage your reservation and to contact you about it; to prepare for your visit, including allergies, dietary requirements and accessibility; to take payment, deposits and cancellation charges where our booking terms allow; to answer your enquiries and arrange private dining and events; to fulfil gift voucher orders and communicate them to the recipient where the voucher is a gift; to run and improve this website and our service; for internal statistical analysis, reporting and planning; to keep our accounting and business records; to deal with complaints and disputes; to meet our legal and regulatory obligations; and, where you have consented, to send you direct marketing.
Direct marketing
We will not use your personal data in direct marketing unless you have told us you do not object to us doing so.
If you consent, we will use your name, email address and telephone number to send you information about The Canton Library and the other restaurants, bars and venues in Aqua Restaurant Group. That covers new openings, seasonal and festive menus, events, private dining and group offers, promotions, and food and drink and hospitality services generally.
You can withdraw that consent at any time, free of charge. Click the unsubscribe link in any marketing email we send you, or write to [email protected] and ask us to stop. We will act on it without charge.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not provide it to any third party for that third party’s own direct marketing.
Who we share it with
Your data is handled inside Aqua Restaurant Group and shared with the suppliers who run the systems we use. Those are SevenRooms for reservations, One Tree Software Limited trading as Giftpro for gift vouchers, our payment processors, Google for website analytics and advertising measurement, CookieYes for consent management, and our website hosting, IT and email suppliers. We also share data with our professional advisers where we have to, and with regulators, law enforcement or a court where the law requires it.
Everyone we share data with is required to keep it secure and to use it only for the purpose we gave it to them for.
Transfers outside Hong Kong
Some of the suppliers above hold data on servers outside Hong Kong, including in the United States and the European Union. Where your data leaves Hong Kong we put contractual protections in place with the supplier so that it is held to a standard comparable with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.
How long we keep it
We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for, and for as long as the law requires.
In practice, booking and guest records are kept for 36 months after your most recent visit or booking. Marketing contact details are kept until you unsubscribe, and for 12 months after that so that we do not contact you again by mistake. Enquiry correspondence is kept for 24 months. Voucher and payment records are kept for 7 years to meet Hong Kong accounting and tax requirements. Website analytics data is kept for 14 months. Records held for an unresolved complaint, dispute or legal claim are kept until the matter is closed.
Keeping it safe
We use technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, alteration and disclosure. Access is limited to the people who need it to do their job. Our suppliers are held to the same standard by contract. No system is completely secure, but we take this seriously and review it.
Your rights
Under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance you have the right to ask us whether we hold personal data about you, to be given a copy of it, and to have it corrected if it is wrong. You can also ask us to stop using your data for direct marketing at any time.
Send your request to [email protected] or to the Wanchai address above. We will answer within 40 days. We may charge a reasonable fee for supplying a copy of your data, as the Ordinance allows, and we will tell you the fee before we do the work. We may need to verify your identity before we act on a request.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Hong Kong.
Children
This website is not aimed at children. If you are under 18, please do not send us your personal data without the agreement of a parent or guardian.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page and the date at the top tells you when it last changed.
